Office of the St. Louis County Attorney
The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office represents the State of Minnesota and St. Louis County in a variety of legal matters. Our responsibilities include prosecuting crimes committed within St. Louis County, providing support to crime victims and witnesses in those cases, pursuing legal actions on behalf of St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services to protect vulnerable individuals, and providing legal counsel and representation to St. Louis County government departments.
The County Attorney’s Office represents the public interest and county government. We do not represent individual residents or provide legal advice to the public.
The County Attorney, Kim Maki, is elected by the residents of St. Louis County and carries duties set by Minnesota law. She leads the office's six divisions — Duluth Criminal, Range Criminal, Civil, Public Health & Human Services, Victim Witness Services, and Administrative Support. The across offices are located across three district courthouses located in Duluth, Virginia, and Hibbing.
