RECORDER & REGISTRAR OF TITLES

The St. Louis County Recorder records documents pertaining to real estate. Once these documents are recorded, the office maintains a searchable index and, when applicable, issues new land Certificates of Title. Copies of real estate documents and Certificates of Title can be viewed and purchased by the public.

The Registrar of Titles retains an Examiner of Titles appointed by the District Court. As an attorney for the Registrar, the Examiner performs judicial, administrative, and legal advisor duties.

The Recorder’s Office also records documents throughout the foreclosure process. The “Foreclosure” link on the left of this page provides helpful information and links regarding this process.
