Where do I apply for a new passport?

Go to the St. Louis County Auditor’s Service Center in the Miller Hill Mall (outdoor entrance between JC Penny and Essentia) from 9 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Monday through Friday and from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Saturday.  Please come 30 minutes before end of business day.

Can you take my passport pictures?

Yes.

How do I renew my passport?

Minors under sixteen years of age:  Each minor child renewing must appear in person along with both parents or the child’s legal guardian(s) and present the following:

• Evidence of the child’s U.S. citizenship (certified birth certificate OR naturalization papers OR a certificate of birth abroad); AND

• Evidence of the child’s relationship to parents/guardian(s) (certified birth certificate); AND

• Parental/guardian government-issued identification.

• Completed passport application (please use black ink).  The forms are available at our office or at http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/english.html.  Click on “U.S. Passport, Forms, DS-11 Application for a U.S. Passport”.

• Recent color photograph (must meet passport requirements) or our office can take your photo(s) on-site.

• Fees:  Part 1 – Check or money order payable to:  U.S. Dept. of State.  No cash or credit cards for application fees at the St. Louis County Auditor’s Service Center.  Part 2 – Check, money or cash for processing fees and photo fee (if applicable).  No credit cards for processing and photo fees.

Applicants sixteen years of age and older:  You can renew your passport book or card by mail ($130 FOR PASSPORT BOOK AND $30 FOR PASSPORT CARD) utilizing Form DS-82. If you need assistance, you can stop into our office.  Please use black ink when completing application forms.  Forms are available in our office or at http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/english.html  (click on “U.S. Passport, Your U.S. Passport, Renew a Passport”).

How much do new passport books and cards cost?

Passport books are $100 for applicants under sixteen years of age and $130.00 for sixteen years of age and older.  Passport cards are $15 for applicants under sixteen years of age and $30 for sixteen years of age and older.

What should I bring with me to apply?

• We would like a parent present for applicants 16 or 17 years old, or a check from parents and a notarized letter giving the minor permission.

Do all my family members have to be present to apply for passports?

Yes, every applicant needs to be present.

My children who are age sixteen or older do not have a driver's license, so what do I bring for their identification?

Applicants under the age of sixteen should be accompanied by both parents who can present their driver’s licenses for identification.  If only one parent can accompany the child, he/she must present a notarized consent form, DS-3053 (available at our office or at www.travel.state.gov/ ), and a clear front and back copy of their I.D./driver’s license.

Applicants who are sixteen or seventeen years of age can apply on their own if they have a driver’s license and are paying with their legal parent’s check(s).  If the applicant does not have a driver’s license, or State ID, one parent must accompany the child and present his/her driver’s license for identification.  Applicant may have to show other documentations to prove identity.  This information can be found at travel.state.gov.

Can I get my passport in less time?

Yes, passport services can be expedited for an additional $60.00.  Delivery is normally three weeks after the time applications are received by a U.S. passport office. The cost for overnight return of your passport is $18.32, payable to U.S. Dept. of State.

What is the difference between a passport book and a passport card?

A passport book is more expensive than a card and can be used for international travel by land, sea and air.  A passport card can only be used for travel by land or sea to Mexico, Canada, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
