Top Salary Information

Minnesota Statutes section 471.701 requires that a city or county with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and base salaries of its three highest-paid employees. For St. Louis County, titles and salaries as of January 1, 2020 are:

County Administrator: $191,984

Public Health & Human Services Director: $163,508

County Attorney: $163,280



Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related temporary closure of county offices, County Board Chair Michael Jugovich and County Auditor Nancy Nilsen have authorized the County Attorney’s Office to accept service of process on the county by email in new civil cases in state and federal court. Please direct any such process to civillitigationservice@stlouiscountymn.gov. Your email will be acknowledged by a County Attorney’s Office staff member.

Service of process on the county by email is only authorized as long as county offices are closed and this notice is present on the county’s website. Thereafter, process must be served in accordance with the requirements in Minn. R. Civ. P. 4.03(e)(1) or Fed. R. Civ. P. 4(j)(2), as appropriate.
