Highway 29 north of Floodwood has been closed near the Stremmel Road intersection (just east of the TH 73 intersection) due to flooding. This is a paved road and is the primary route between Floodwood and Meadowlands. It runs alongside the St. Louis River, which is overflowing its banks and covering the road at this location.

New detour route marked during Hwy 133 bridge reconstruction
The spring thaw combined with melting snow runoff has now forced the closure of another road in Meadowlands Township. Highway 29 is now closed to all through traffic. It had been part of the designated detour route while the Highway 133 bridge across the Whiteface River is being rebuilt.
Barricades have been set up and detour signs are being posted. The new recommended detour will direct motorists to use Highways 7, 27 and 5. St. Louis County Public Works will continue to monitor the condition of Highway 29, which is a gravel road, and reopen it when conditions allow.
