All previously flooded county roads have reopened; Hwy 29 remains closed near Meadowlands due to deteriorated condition

All 47 county roads that had to be closed temporarily due to flooding and damage caused by high water from rapidly melting snow are now reopened.

Highway 29, a gravel road north of Meadowlands, which was closed due to deteriorating condition caused by excessive traffic during spring thaw, remains closed.

Open house for proposed trail near Rock Ridge School

St. Louis County Public Works will host a public open house to provide information and gather input on potential route options for a trail system to connect the urban area of Eveleth (west of Highway 53) and the Midway neighborhood to the new Rock Ridge School campus. The open house will be Tuesday, May 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the Athletic Commons at the new Rock Ridge High School, 1403 Progress Parkway in Virginia.

Morris Thomas Road construction and detour begin May 8

Construction on Morris Thomas Road in Duluth, along with necessary detours, is scheduled to begin Monday, May 8. This is a two-year project to reconstruct Morris Thomas Road between Haines Road and Piedmont Avenue. The $8.4 million project will include the complete reconstruction of Morris Thomas Road, replacement of watermains beneath it, a new sidewalk on the south side of the road, plus new curbs and gutters.
