Life insurance proceeds cannot be paid directly to a minor. Payment will require legal documentation of the court-appointed financial guardian of the minor, which can delay the entire process. We advise that until your child is an adult, you name the adult who would be caring for your child/children as the beneficiary in the event of your death(s) or you establish a trust and list the life insurance as an asset in the trust.
