Public Health strives to provide access to and availability of nutritionally adequate foods to promote an active, healthy lifestyle for all residents of Saint Louis County.
Many families are eligible for WIC. WIC provides nutrition education, support for breastfeeding, and access to healthy foods for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age five years.
St. Louis County has specially trained Certified Lactation Consultants to provide education and support to pregnant and breastfeeding moms.
WIC participants have an opportunity to connect with a Peer Breastfeeding Counselor, a WIC mother who lives in the community and has breastfed her baby. She is available to give support, via phone, text, or in office visits to assist parents in meeting goals for feeding their babies.
